1. Name of the company
Must be in Traditional Chinese or English, not a mix of Chinese and English. It can contain Arabic numerals. Can only register Chinese name, can only register English name, or both a Chinese name and an English name (Hong Kong banking system is mainly in English, it is recommended to register the English name). The English name should end with "LIMITED" and the Chinese name should end with "有限公司".
2. Operational context
It needs to be presented in plain English or plain Chinese, with the English description limited to 60 characters and the Chinese description limited to 28 characters. The content will be presented in the form of the nature of business on the Business Registration Certificate.
3. Registered capital
You can choose to register your share capital in either US dollars or Hong Kong dollars. It is generally recommended that a registered capital amount of HK$10,000 is sufficient. Capitalization in Hong Kong is on a contributory basis rather than a paid-up basis. Regardless of the amount of registered capital, no capital verification is required.
4. Company directors/shareholders
A Hong Kong company should be registered by at least one person, who should be at least 18 years old, with no restriction on nationality, and provide a scanned copy of ID card or passport. Shareholders and directors can be the same person, if there are more than two shareholders, additional information on the percentage of shareholding of each shareholder is required.
5. Company Secretary
Under the Hong Kong Companies Ordinance, a limited company is required to appoint a company secretary who is specifically responsible for handling the company's dealings with the Government. The secretary must be a Hong Kong resident or a licensed Hong Kong limited company (e.g. Hong Kong Secretarial Services Limited).
